Snakes Take Opener from Braves. Bulldog's Double, Strong Bullpen Power Win

The Tiburon Diamondbacks Baseball Club opened the season on Saturday with a win over the Braves. The final score was 7-3.

The Braves got on the board in first when Mad Max Fenema reached second on a couple of DBack errors. Jack Rousseau followed with a sharp grounder to short, which was fielded nicely by Jackhammer Share who threw cleanly to Sey Hey Sine at first, but Max scored from second on the play. The Big O then stuck out the next two batters to get out of the inning.

The Snakes battled right back in their half of the first. Thurman Austrian lead off with a single and stole two bases to get to third. The Big O singled him home and later scored when Max walked in two runs to make the score 3-1.

The Brave scored twice in the second to tie the game on Sean Lowry's Texas Leaguer to right. The Big O again shut the door by striking out the side to end his day with 5Ks in two innings.

The game was then handed to the bullpen, which responded by holding the Braves scoreless for the remainder of the game. The Cardiac Kid, Weston Terrell, pitched 2 1/3 innings, stuck out six, allowed one hit and no runs. In the fifth, Thurman came in from catcher to close the door by getting the final two outs and striking out one. The game ended when Nick "Lou" Reade hit a sharp grounder to Say Hey at first, who stayed down and made the play himself.

The Baby Backs broke the 3-3 tie in the third when Sey Hey sacrificed to score The Big O, who had reached third by singling and stealing two bases. Bulldog Miller then broke the game open with a three RBI double to make the score 7-3 and put the game out of reach.

The Diamondbacks next game will be at the Friendly Confines of Strawberry Minors tomorrow (Wednesday). First pitch will be at 5 pm with players arriving at 4 pm. Plenty of good seats are still available, but get there early to get the best ones. And please drive carefully.
